Lock Hide Keep

Atlanta Downtown and the Atlanta Police Department have collaborated to launch the "LOCK, HIDE, KEEP" campaign aimed at reducing car break-ins and enhancing safety in Downtown Atlanta.

This public safety initiative focuses on encouraging residents, workers, and visitors to take three simple steps to protect their vehicles and belongings:

Lock – Secure car doors and store firearms safely.

Hide – Keep valuables out of sight.

Keep – Take personal belongings with you.

Car break-ins remain a pressing issue in urban areas, often leading to the theft of valuable items, including firearms, which can contribute to further crimes. The "LOCK, HIDE, KEEP" campaign highlights a shared commitment from the City of Atlanta, Central Atlanta Progress, and Downtown property owners to address this challenge proactively.

To support the initiative, property and parking lot owners are being encouraged to install "LOCK, HIDE, KEEP" signage on their premises. Property and parking lot owners and operators can also use this list of best practices to deter theft from auto and improve their operations. 

Additionally, the City of Atlanta will provide resources for property owners, including:

• Registration with NotifyATL, the city’s emergency alert system.
• Enrollment in Connect Atlanta, a network for sharing security camera footage to support APD investigations.
