#15 Remove Non-Functioning Pedestrian Push Buttons
Description | Remove pedestrian push buttons at intersections with automated signal timing. Result: Most traffic signals in Downtown are programmed with predetermined cycle lengths, determined by using average anticipated volumes and movements. At the intersections where programmed traffic signals are employed the pedestrian push buttons at the four corners of an intersection are dummy buttons – allowing the predetermined traffic signal timing to serve all users. Because the dummy pedestrian push buttons are misleading, participants of Downtown Decides requested the buttons to be removed. |
