Earlier this year, MARTA announced it was "conducting a detailed study of bus routes in its service area to better meet the needs of current and future travel demands." The redesign presents a unique opportunity for metro Atlanta area to collaborate and reimagine the network to deliver faster and more reliable service, improve regional connectivity, reduce travel times, and promote safety.

Transit supporters will have a chance to provide feedback on the new design. Much of this feedback will focus on answering questions like "Where should bus service travel, and how frequently?" or "How should service run on weekends, or at night?"

The answers to these questions will heavily influence how the transit network is shaped. Thus, understanding how transit works, what choices are available, and how those choices impact transit is vital to providing feedback that will result in the kind of transit you want and that will enrich your community.

This book club will go through each chapter of "Human Transit" by Jarrett Walker, a book written to "give you the confidence to form and advocate clear opinions about what kind of transit you want and how that can help create the kind of city you want."

Join us on this 11-week journey as we discuss what we value in our transit and how we can bring those values to life in the upcoming bus network redesign.
