The American Dream claims that we all have the same potential to accumulate wealth with dedication and hard work. The United States is believed to be a place where you can build a life from the ground up and foster your future generations with your earnings. While that may be true for some, this has repeatedly been disproven for Black Americans. The American government has failed to foster wealth-building opportunities for the Black community and continues to support environments that add to their struggle for financial freedom. Join the Center for a conversation on what reparations could look like for the Black community and the impact that an investment in community restoration and individual payments would have.
