Citizens, Communities, Organizations, etc., of the City of Atlanta, we the members of Atlanta Police Department would like to ask you to take part in this year’s Virtual National Night Out 2020 as recommended by the National Association of Town Watch on Tuesday, October 6th. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic social gatherings are STRONGLY DISCOURAGED. We suggest you participate in one of the ways listed below to be safe and healthy. We hope you will keep the National Night Out spirit alive!

  • Hold your own individual household family-style picnic in your yard and still have fun.
  • Display safety art (posters, chalk art, etc.) for example, SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING, CLEAN CAR CAMPAIGN, IF YOU DON’T REPORT IT YOU SUPPORT IT, and LIGHT UP THE NIGHT (Theme) which can be seen from a distance from your own residence.
  • Perform street activities by driving through your communities to form a vehicle caravan or have block party with neighbors on your street but stay in your OWN yard to ensure adequate space between participants.
  • Turn porch lights on at the same time with patrol officers as they will acknowledge their Blue Lights from 8:00 p.m. to midnight. During ”Light Up The Night” patrol officers will turn on their stationary Blue Lights and ride throughout the communities.
  • Place blue and white balloons and/or blue bows on mail box.
  • Each community can hold their OWN Zoom/Meet and Greet.
  • APD team members will connect with a video meet and greet to provide contact information and building bridges with the community.
  • Please take pictures of your socially distanced event and share them with the department for social media posts. Send your pictures to sabthomas@atlantaga.gov.
