As IRS Tax Day looms near, the pressure to meet the deadline is heating up for Georgians who have procrastinated on filing their federal and state taxes. The experts at Georgia’s Own Credit Union, which started in Atlanta in 1934 and is recognized as the third largest credit union in the state, understand one reason for many taxpayers’ last-minute submissions is the uncertainty of how much money will be owed to the government.

To help taxpayers keep their cool, Georgia’s Own Credit Union is offering a free Tax Day treat: 850 King of Pops popsicles for a limited time this Monday, April 15 at Woodruff Park in downtown Atlanta and Georgia’s Own Marietta branch at 401 Cobb Parkway. Financial advisors from Georgia’s Own will also be available at both locations to provide financial guidance, including advice for paying an unexpected tax bill as well as tips for wisely spending and saving money from a tax return. While everyone has to pay taxes, many Georgians lack the resources to get advice from a professional, making this free service valuable to many in the community.

The 850 popsicles also commemorate Georgia’s Own Credit Union’s 85th anniversary and the organization’s year-long “85 Acts of Kindness” campaign designed to serve the public good in unique and unexpected ways. Follow #85ActsofKindess on social media for announced initiatives open to the general public, as well exclusive surprises for members of the credit union.
