Forests are not fuel. Food is not fuel.
On May 30 the Dogwood Alliance and Mighty Earth are partnering to combat two intersecting threats to our wild places: biofuel and woody biomass.
Some of our last remaining wild places are under attack, as Big Ag and Biomass companies are treating our planet’s forests, prairies and wetlands as disposable commodities.
Biomass is energy that comes from burning wood pellets --often from trees in old-growth forests. Biofuel is energy sourced by converting corn, soy, and palm into liquified fuel. Both are climate disasters, posing an existential threat to forests.
Transitioning away from fossil fuels is one of the most urgent and existential challenges of our time. We must prioritize new energy sources that are truly sustainable, rather than greenwashed alternatives that make us even worse-off.
Join us on May 30 to learn how you can #Stand4Forests. The evening will include a 30-min screening of the documentary Burned, and a presentation about biofuels.
Doors open at 6:00 PM and the event will begin at 6:30 PM. Refreshments and snacks will be provided. Co-sponsored by GA Interfaith Power & Light.
