Instructor(s):
Lyn and Tom Deardorff (founders of The Learning Kitchen)
This is a weeknight version of Tom and Lyn's Bread and Butter class. We thought it would be fun to add a little wine to the evening! You will still be learning all the tips, ticks and techniques of the regular class.
What You'll Experience:
Lyn's husband, Tom, has been a great bread baker for over 40 years. He has changed, added, perfected his methods over the years – and what he’s doing now is the best ever. Tom will teach the bread-making portion of the class, while Lyn teaches the butter-making fun.This class teaches what one might label “French Style” bread – meaning flaky, crunchy crusts along with a center texture that’s light and airy and not too dense. Melt in your mouth goodness! This is so simple and delicious, which is why it’s been very popular among seasoned bread makers.It’s hand-done (always – no bread machine here!) but no-knead and very low yeast. Guess what? No added sugar either – but tastes as sweet as if you did! The recipe allows you to make soft crusty dinner rolls, bread loaves, ciabatta, baguettes, boules, even focaccia. You’ll learn how to mix and how much to let it rest. You’ll shape into baguettes – then bake it up and take home your freshly made treat. We’ll also make up homemade butter – so easy and so much better tasting than what you can buy. And so yummy on that just-made warm baguette! You’ll learn various ways to make it and what are the best creams to use. Then take home a jar of this freshly made butter.
What You'll Take Home:
- Complete take-home instructions, recipes, and resources for both the bread and butter
- Your freshly made baguette
- A jar of homemade butter
