March 2025
Servant, advocate, and intentional are words I would use to describe myself, my purpose, and my lifestyle.
When I reflect on how I started working for those experiencing homelessness, I can't help but connect the dots to my immigrant parents. I discovered in my early 30s that my resilient mother and I had lived in a women's shelter for the first two and a half years of my life. Years later, when I became a receptionist in a shelter in Downtown Atlanta, it felt like a full-circle moment where I could give those supportive services we had once received to others in need.
Since moving to Metro Atlanta in 2007, I have embraced various jobs, from customer service to being the first person someone speaks to after getting in an accident to teaching the fundamentals of nutrition and garden education. These roles have allowed me to help and serve my fellow humans. I strive to understand human situations, find solutions to human challenges, and provide the accurate information people need to thrive.
Settling into my career as the Director of Supportive Services for Atlanta Downtown Improvement District's street outreach team, there have been many twists and turns, ups and downs, but I have landed where my heart is content, and I am grateful for the choices I made to get here. I am honored to dedicate my time to finding solutions that impact change for my community, especially those experiencing homelessness in this great city of Atlanta.
