Woodruff Park Partners with W Atlanta – Downtown to Offer Hyperlocal Wi-Fi Channel

July 2,2013

W Atlanta – Downtown recently launched a custom Wi-Fi channel in the heart of Atlanta, connecting hotel guests as well as local Atlantans with an innovative, interactive city experience. Downtown Atlanta’s Woodruff Park is one of several hotspots located throughout the city, allowing locals and visitors alike to access complimentary high-speed Internet.

Through a partnership with Prenet Media, W Atlanta – Downtown engages Atlanta’s mobile audience with free Wi-Fi access where they work and play, providing users with a customized online experience at dozens of locations within the surrounding Downtown radius of the hotel.

“We are very pleased to add complimentary WiFi to the growing list of amenities at Woodruff Park, and are confident that the park’s many visitors will enjoy connectivity in the open air Reading Room,” said Wilma Sothern, Vice President at Marketing at Central Atlanta Progress, the organization that maintains stewardship of Woodruff Park.

In addition to Woodruff Park, W Atlanta – Downtown’s Wi-Fi can be accessed at Bill Hallman boutique locations, Concentrics restaurants, city-zones and other local hotspots. The portal will feature a W curated experience, with Internet alongside insider information and a guide to the city’s most exciting destinations that aim to showcase the hotel’s local partnerships and foster engagement, online and off.

“We are excited to invite guests of W Atlanta – Downtown and some of Atlanta’s best local businesses to enjoy a free and unique online experience that will help them get the most out of their time in our city, whether they’re visiting for work, play or a little bit of both. W Atlanta – Downtown is already committed to supporting our guests’ modern lifestyles through our fantastic amenities and customer service, so this was a natural next step.” says Tim Dahlen, General Manager.

Through their own mobile devices and innovative technologies like interactive multi-touch 2D displays, users will have access to the same personalized city experience they would receive as a guest of W Atlanta – Downtown, whether they are at the hotel or not.

In addition to bringing Wi-Fi access to a number of the hotel’s partners, W Atlanta – Downtown has installed the W Insider Portal to map the channel’s network. Hotel guests and visitors can use the sleek, multi-touch kiosk’s NUI (natural user interface) design to explore Atlanta through an interactive touch screen experience. Additionally, W Atlanta – Downtown has an Acura car service that can take guests to and from Atlanta’s best neighborhoods and local businesses.
