WeWork to occupy 101 Marietta Street tower in first downtown location

WeWork has signed a long-term lease at downtown's 101 Marietta Street tower — another reminder that the co-working giant is growing into one of the city's largest occupiers of office space.

WeWork agreed to lease 100,300 square feet for at least 1,300 of its members, which can range from startups to large companies. WeWork will lease floors 28 through 31 and put its name across the top of the 36-story downtown landmark.

WeWork had scouted several nearby properties before leasing 101 Marietta. It's the company's first location downtown, said Bobby Condon, Southeast General Manager of WeWork.

Easy access to mass transit and views of the downtown skyline were factors in company's decision to lease the tower, Condon said.

The location also opens new avenues for statewide growth, he added.

WeWork will start building out its space over the next several weeks and expects to be open within 101 Marietta by this summer.
