UPS Partners with Kabbage Inc. and Acquires Belgium’s Kiala

February 15,2012

Online financial services provider Kabbage Inc. has partnered with United Parcel Service Inc.  (UPS). The companies said small businesses can direct UPS to share their shipping history with Kabbage through the Kabbage.com website. UPS Capital has provided Kabbage with a new debt facility specifically to fund small e-commerce businesses through Kabbage’s proprietary system. The companies said this will let Kabbage potentially increase working capital lines when businesses choose to share their UPS transaction data, which includes information related to the number and frequency of packages shipped.

UPS has also acquired Belgium-based Kiala for an undisclosed amount. Kiala started a platform that lets e-commerce retailers offer shoppers the option of having goods delivered to a retail location. It operates in Belgium, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Spain. According to Kiala’s Web site, it delivers up to 145,000 packages each day to 7,000 collection points.
