Pop Up Shops: Putting new businesses in vacant stores for free
July 1,2014
It's a concept that's putting new businesses in empty stores for free.
In the historic Sweet Auburn District, more than a dozen new shops are offering products, from apparel and accessories to furniture and art work. They're called Pop-Up Shops. Local retailers are showcasing their goods and services in temporary store-fronts.
More than 100 businesses applied for the opportunity to open a Pop-Up Shop along Atlanta’s streetcar route. Central Atlanta Progress spearheaded the program and owners will fill the vacant store-fronts free of charge, through August.
Most of the companies, who have thriving online businesses, have the option to make their Pop-Up Shops a permanent home.
