Piggy Bank Announces the Debut of PeachFest 2017
June 29,2017
Atlanta, Georgia (June 29, 2017) - Piggy Bank announces the debut of PeachFest 2017, a first-of-its-kind culinary festival. FlatironCity welcomes the inaugural event as the Official Host underneath the canopy on Broad Street in the Fairlie-Poplar district of downtown Atlanta on Sunday, August 13th from 3:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Named after Georgia’s most iconic edible, PeachFest aims to celebrate all of this great state’s agricultural diversity – from the namesake peach to blueberries, peanuts, heritage breed pigs, and Vidalia onions. Proceeds benefit Piggy Bank, which is working toward protecting heritage breed pigs, supporting local family farms, and building educational resources and business value for all within the community.
PeachFest 2017 will feature innovative gastronomic takes on a host of local farm products, but there is also another important theme for the day: local communities. By staging a culinary revival in the streets of downtown, the goal is also to highlight the dynamic tastes and energies of Atlanta’s core urban district alongside agricultural spotlights. Among the Atlanta businesses that are to be highlighted are Pearson Farm, The Turnip Truck, The Wrecking Bar, and Hamthropology - Registered Ossabaw Island Pork, and many more to be announced on the website www.peachfest.org.
Top Georgian farmers, chefs, distillers, and brewers will collaborate to give the state’s finest agricultural products flavor and form rarely seen before. Notable participants include, Terry Koval of Wrecking Bar, Bryan Furman of B'S Cracklin BBQ, and Richard Bradford of Pre-Made Paleo amongst many more. Below, please find sampling of what to expect from the day’s, peach-loving lineup:
Wood-Fired Peach Flats – peach and charcuterie flatbreads by notable butchers
“PFT” Peach, Foie, and Truffles – luxury and savory re-inventions with this iconic stone fruit

“I am pleased to support and welcome the first-ever PeachFest to downtown Atlanta,” said Mayor Kasim Reed. “I encourage both residents and visitors to attend this charitable event which will not only benefit local family farms, but provide educational resources to our community. Over the last seven years, our city’s downtown corridor has seen tremendous growth and investment and I look forward to having the festival in our city for years to come.”
