Two veteran Downtown Atlanta architectural and design firms are joining forces.

Stevens & Wilkinson and Richard Wittschiebe Hand (RWH) are announcing that they are combining their practices to establish a “collaborative culture and a focus on smart design solutions,” according a press release.

Stevens & Wilkinson, founded in 1919 in Downtown Atlanta, has a long history of architectural and engineering design services. By merging with RWH, the firm is looking forward to a future with a strengthened, combined practice.

Stevens & Wilkinson has practiced for 94 years throughout the Southeast, and it has offices in Atlanta and Columbia, SC.

“As Stevens & Wilkinson approaches our 100th year of business, we are excited about again reinvigorating our staff with an influx of a talented group of architects from RWH”, said Ron Stang, a principal at Stevens & Wilkinson.

Stevens & Wilkinson’s diverse portfolio includes projects for education, government, workplace, historic preservation and healthcare. Stevens & Wilkinson seeks to combine its design principles with emerging technologies — creating buildings and environments that have a lasting, positive impact on communities.

Richard Wittschiebe Hand has provided architectural, interior design and master planning services in the Southeast since 1973.

“We at RWH are thrilled to be combining our practice with Stevens & Wilkinson,” said Janice Wittschhiebe, principal and founder of RWH. “Each firm has unique projects, characteristics and experiences that together complement and expand our abilities, innovation and reach in planning and architecture.  We are looking forward to continued success at Stevens & Wilkinson”

Throughout the years, RWH has been recognized for its outstanding work, receiving the 2011 AIA Georgia Firm of the Year award as well as the 2010-2013 Outstanding IDP Firm Award.
“RWH has accomplished a lot in their history, including the AIA Firm of the Year Award in 2011,” said Bill Clark, a principal at Stevens & Wilkinson said. “I am very excited about the opportunities our combined firms will generate and look forward to a very bright future.”

The firm of Stevens & Wilkinson has 102 employees, and Richard Wittschiebe Hand has 10 employees.

RWH will move to Stevens & Wilkinson’s office located in the Equitable Building at 100 Peachtree St., effective Jan. 1, 2014. The combined firm will operate under the Stevens & Wilkinson name.
