Atlanta Streetcar Test Traffic Signal Integration on October 15
October 14,2014
Overnight test may cause delays along route
The Atlanta Streetcar is conducting final tests to ensure the integration of vehicles, power, communications, and traffic and train signal controls.
On Wednesday, October 15, 2014, they will be testing the traffic signal interface system – to ensure the timing of signals will accommodate the streetcars, motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.
The test will begin at 11 p.m. and go until the early morning hours of Thursday, October 16. Streetcars will be travelling along the entire 2.7 mile loop of the system; the Atlanta Police Department will be escorting the vehicle and there will be rolling closures. Motorists are advised to find alternate routes while the testing is taking place.
Motorists are also reminded that vehicles along the streetcar route need to be parked fully within the white lines of the parking spaces, and that double-parking is not allowed. Illegally parked vehicles along the route will be ticketed and/or towed.
