Alston & Bird Partner Appointed to American Bar Association Chair Post

A senior counsel at CAP Member, Alston & Bird LLP has been appointed to chair the American Bar Association’s Task Force on Sustainable Development.

Lee DeHihns is a member of the firm’s Environmental & Land Development Group.

The task force will review and make recommendations on how the bar association should be involved in implementing sustainable development across the globe.

“I am both honored and humbled to be selected for this position,” DeHihns said. “I look forward to working with an elite team of experts and leaders in their respective fields to tackle perhaps the most critical issue of our time – the sustainability of our planet.”

The task force will include lawyers and non-lawyers affiliated with the bar association, as well as representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency, the State Department, the United Nations and other multinational organizations.

Specifically, the task force will work toward implementing the sustainable development recommendations contained in a report released last year by a UN conference held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

DeHihns will serve a one-year term.
