Project Overview
CAP/ADID is developing redesign plans for Peachtree Street SW between Alabama St. and Trinity Ave. The project will:

- Reconstruct and widen sidewalks.
- Upgrade ADA accessible ramps and crosswalks.
- Add new space for landscaping and seating.
Project Background
Today, South Downtown is at an inflection point with several transformational real estate projects poised to again make the community a vibrant 24-hour neighborhood where Atlantans live, work, and play. For South Downtown to thrive, it must be supported by a robust multimodal transportation network where cycling, walking, and transit are convenient and comfortable. As streets form the largest cohort of public spaces in the neighborhood, roadway investments are also an opportunity to create a more inviting and engaging public realm. This project was a recommendation of the South Downtown Street Concept Plan and is part of a larger effort to transform many of the streets in South Downtown.
In advance of the larger capital project, CAP/ADID restriped Peachtree Street between Alabama St. and M.L. King Jr. Dr. in the spring of 2020 to increase the availability of on-street parking, add commercial loading, and improve traffic operations.
