ArtSwap ATL Kick Off Celebration
Date and Time for this Past Event
- Friday, Jun 7, 2019 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Location
Woodruff Park
91 Peachtree St NW
During the first Food Truck Fridays event of the summer, Woodruff Park will launch a new effort called ArtSwap ATL, a public art program co-designed by local high school students from Cristo Rey High School, The New School, and Leap Year; social impact agency Spark Corps; and Georgia State University students.
Five ArtSwap ATL mailboxes—designed by local artists Donna Howell (@70dot), Rory Hawkins (@catlanta), Kandus Johnson (@kandusjohnson), Ayanna Smith (@art.by.ayanna) of TILA Studios, and Evil Twin Brother (@eviltwinbrother)—will be installed throughout the park, encouraging visitors to “take art and leave art.”
At the June 7 kick off event, attendees will have the opportunity to take a guided walking tour to visit each of the mailboxes designed by a local independent artist.
Support for this unique project was made possible with a Heart of the Community grant from the Southwest Airlines Foundation, an advised fund of Silicon Valley Community Foundation, awarded to Woodruff Park in 2018.
