Downtown Atlanta Walk There Challenge

October 5-31, 2009

Congratulations to this years Downtown Atlanta Walk There Challenge winner Teresa Harrison!

Teresa is a diligent participant in Downtown TMA commuter programs. Her active healthy lifestyle contributed to her impressive step count. Teresa exercises avidly. Among other activities, her routine includes regular work out sessions and running on the weekends. Teresa’s efforts have paid off all around. After starting her routine over a year ago, Teresa has shed almost 40 pounds!

This year’s Walk Challenge made her push herself to work harder toward her weight loss goals, reminding her to wear her pedometer every day. “I kept my pedometer on until I went to bed and in the morning I’d put it on as soon as I was dressed,” she said proudly.

As this year’s Walk There Challenge recipient Teresa is will receive a gift basket of tickets, gift certificates and more, perfect for an intown getaway, including one night’s stay at the Ellis Hotel, dinner at the Glenn Hotel’s 30 Tables and a show at the Rialto!

The Downtown Atlanta Walk There Challenge is a FREE program encouraging Downtown Atlanta’s commuters to focus on promoting physical activity and walking Downtown as a means of transportation or just a way to be more active during the day. Contest participants do not have to walk to work to participate; all walking counts, whether it’s at work, at home or elsewhere.

Participants are asked to log the number of steps they take during the month of October. We provide free pedometers and “walking kits” to all individuals who have registered online for the contest via Commuter Rewards.

Each week the Downtown TMA awards random prizes and the Downtown stepper with the most steps logged at the end of October gets a grand prize.
