Earth Day 2014

April 22,2014

Atlanta Streetcar Beautification Project Attracts Downtown Volunteers

In recognition of Earth Day, volunteers from the community gathered today to prep and fill decorative planters generously donated by Southern Patio with a variety of flowers to be placed along the Atlanta Streetcar route.  Volunteers from various Downtown companies, including the Georgia Aquarium, worked near the water wall in Woodruff Park to create unique plantings that will enhance pop-up store fronts opening this summer.

Launching on June 1st, CAP’s retail program will fill vacant spaces along the Atlanta Streetcar route with Pop-Up Shops. To date, 12 shops are slated to open.  More information regarding the Downtown Pop-Up Retail Program can be found online at www.DowntownPopUpShops.com.

Today’s project was sponsored by the Downtown Green Source, a program of Central Atlanta Progress and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District that provides sustainability resources to Downtown employers and employees. In support of the goals established by the City of Atlanta, Downtown Green Source strives to provide the connections, resources and education necessary to enhance the environmental sustainability and economic vitality of Downtown.

Additional support was provided by Southern Patio www.southernpatio.com
